Elemental Madness at Wintergrasp

For people on PVE servers, Wintergrasp is the only place where they can do world PVP. But that’s not the only thing the region is good for. It is the place in Northend to farmer for the different crystallized elementals that are needed to make Eternal Elementals. The eternals are WOTLK’s version of Primals. These eternals are needed by different professions to craft items.

Just like the Primals of TBC, Eternal is made up of ten crystallized elementals. For example, to make Eternal Fire, which is by far the most expensive one in my server at 30gold, you need to have ten Crystallized Fires.

On any given time, Eternals sell for a lot of gold in the Auction House. But they are also the most volatile market around. Prices would depend on the supply. They might be cheap today but tomorrow would be a different story. I saw Eternal Earth dropped to 3gold a piece but today it’s up to 9gold each.

Because Wintergrasp is a PVP zone, players would automatically be flagged for PVP when one goes into it. This is also true in PVE servers. If you fly into Wintergrasp, you will be dismounted as well. Flying mounts could not be used here, only land mounts.

To fully get Wintergrasp’s gold potential, you must farm for elementals when your faction owns Wintergrasp. This is because at that point Elemental Revenants could be seen by WG’s owners. Every elemental have their Revenant version except that for life. Maybe it’s Blizzard’s subtle reminder that players need to get a life outside the World of Warcraft.

For Crystallized Air, the southern part of WG is home to the Tempest Revenants. Just hug the bottom border of Wintergrasp to find them. For Crystallized Earth, the Earthbound Revenants can be found in the middle of the map. A good concentration is around (56, 54).

In the west (16, 50) is where you can find the Shadow Revenants for your Crystallized Shadow needs. For Crystallized Fire, the place to go is at the east (84, 70) where there’s a number of Flame Revenants mixed with fire elementals as well. If you need Crystallized water, Water Revenants are found in most pools and frozen lakes around Wintergrasp.

If you’re looking to get some life (Crystallized Life that is), then go to the Steppe of Life. There you can find the Living Lashers. There’s no Revenant available for this mob and the drop rate for Crystallized Life is around 26%.

Making Gold from Crystallized Earth

Every farmer knows that the best place to get any crystallized elemental is Wintergrasp. But there are times that WG is too crowded. If you’re looking for Crystallized Earth then the best place to visit is Zul’Drak.

There’s an area in Zim’Rhuk where you can find Level 76 to 77 Elite Guardians of Zim’Rhuk. They have the same drop rate for Crystallized Earth as the Revenants in Wintergrasp. That means the Guardian of Zim’Rhuk has a 30% chance to drop the coveted item.

Don’t let their elite status scare you. At max level, you can easily bring their 33K HP to zero fast. They are soloable by any cast. Just watch out for Whammy, which is a watered down version of the Shaman’s Hex. Just to be sure it is advisable to have a PVP Trinket with you so that you can pop out of the Hex.

The Guardians of Zim’Rhuk are spaced just right to avoid unnecessary adds. You can go around the area with no problem. You can loot ten Crystallized Earths in less than two minutes. That means you can make one Eternal Earth every two minutes. What’s nice about the Guardians of Zim’Rhuk is that they would respawn when all the guardians are down.

You might be wondering why anyone would waste their time farming for something that’s considered the cheapest when compared to its other Elemental cousins. In my server Eternal Earth sells for 4 to 7 gold at any given time. That’s definitely low compared to Eternal Fire’s 20g a piece price tag.

What you need to do is to talk to a Jewel Crafter and Enchanter friends. You can ask your Jewel Crafter friend to make Stoneguard Band for you. It requires two Eternal Earths. Once you have a couple of Stoneguard Bands made, make an Enchanter friend to disenchant them for you. You can get two to five Infinite Dusts, one to two Greater Cosmic Essences or a Dream Shard.

If you average one Eternal Earth per two minutes, in an hour you can make 15 Stoneguard Bands. Depending on your server’s Auction House, you can get at around 100 to 400 gold for your effort. As you can see, selling raw Earth is not the way to go. You can even check the AH for cheap Crystallized Earths or Eternal Earths and have them made into the ring and disenchanted for dusts.

Runecloth Farming in Hellfire

Aside from the Frostweave cloth, Runecloth is the best selling cloth these days. It is needed for those wanting to get the Ambassador achievement and title. For this achievement, the player needs to reach exalted status from five of his home cities. Runecloth can be turned in exchange for reputation.

Someone must have a monopoly of runecloth in my server. The price of a stack of ten is around 4 to 5gold. I placed what I have for 4gold and farmed for more. Based on my experience, the best farming spot is the Expedition Armory in Hellfire Peninsula. Here you can find Unyielding Footmen, Sorcerers, and Knight that are level 58 to 60. A level 80 of any class can kill these mobs easily.

What’s nice about this spot is that the mobs are lined up for your convenience. It’s like they’re arranged to be farmed. You can start with the Unyielding Footmen in the east. Start from the top and kill them going to the bottom. Then go to the tower and kill the mobs surrounding it. Once you’ve killed the mobs around the tower, the Footmen should have respawned by then.

If you’re farming for Runecloth then stick to the Unyielding Knights and Footmen. The Sorcerers do drop Runecloth as well but not as much as the Knights and Footmen. The Knights charge at the start of the fight. Once you get their HP down to 50%, they would call for help so expect adds to come. The Footmen are much easier. They only have one special skill, which is Shield Bash.

If you have a level 70 toon then this is a good place to level grind as well. Not only will you be able to level your toon but you’ll be farming for WOW gold as well. The only competition you’ll get in this spot would be the lower level characters doing the quest in the area. During my stint in the Expedition Armory, I didn’t encounter anyone from the opposing faction. This is good news especially if you belong in a PVP server.

The gold you get here will not only come from the Runecloths but from the greens that drop as well. There are also vendor trash that you can sell once you get back to town. After an hour of farming, my average haul from the area is around 100g on a bad day.

Grass is Greener in the Hills of Stranglethorn Vale

This is the classic example of making WOW gold at a low level. You don’t need to have a max level toon to be able rake in lots of gold. You don’t even need to craft things. Surely having a high level can be an advantage but there are still some ways of getting WOW gold with a low level toon. The most basic routine is going into the buy and sell business. But you need to have some gold as starting capital for this one.

If you have a level 30 then you probably ventured into Stranglethorn Vale and done some quests there. It occupies a large portion of the Eastern Kingdoms. There’s a quest available in the area where you have to collect 15 pages of Green Hills of Stranglethorn. Lots of players abhor this quest because the pages are random drops from the different mobs in the area. Some get frustrated because they would get what they don’t need and occupies a lot of bag space. I know a lot of guild mates who skipped this quest before but because of the achievements most of them are retaking the quest again. Majority of these players look for the pages in the Auction House instead of wasting their time grinding.

Blizzard knows how to make simple quests frustrating. The pages are not numbered in order. For the quest you need to get pages 1, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, and 27. Some people resort to spamming the local zone chat for their missing pages. There are players who have lots of duplicate pages from killing mobs during questing.

You don’t even have to go to the Stranglethorn Vale to profit from the pages. All you need to do is to look in the Auction House for The Green Hills of Stranglethorn pages. Buy the pages that are placed at 25silver or less. Same pages can be stacked. Try to make complete sets and sell them.

Your target market is not the low level player questing in STV but the level 80 ones who are trying to complete the Hemet Nessingwary: The Collected Quests achievement. More often than not, most level 80s have not completed this quest. At 25gold per set you’ll be getting a lot of gold in no time. But keep in mind that the more sets you’ll sell, the smaller your target market becomes.
