Grass is Greener in the Hills of Stranglethorn Vale

This is the classic example of making WOW gold at a low level. You don’t need to have a max level toon to be able rake in lots of gold. You don’t even need to craft things. Surely having a high level can be an advantage but there are still some ways of getting WOW gold with a low level toon. The most basic routine is going into the buy and sell business. But you need to have some gold as starting capital for this one.

If you have a level 30 then you probably ventured into Stranglethorn Vale and done some quests there. It occupies a large portion of the Eastern Kingdoms. There’s a quest available in the area where you have to collect 15 pages of Green Hills of Stranglethorn. Lots of players abhor this quest because the pages are random drops from the different mobs in the area. Some get frustrated because they would get what they don’t need and occupies a lot of bag space. I know a lot of guild mates who skipped this quest before but because of the achievements most of them are retaking the quest again. Majority of these players look for the pages in the Auction House instead of wasting their time grinding.

Blizzard knows how to make simple quests frustrating. The pages are not numbered in order. For the quest you need to get pages 1, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, and 27. Some people resort to spamming the local zone chat for their missing pages. There are players who have lots of duplicate pages from killing mobs during questing.

You don’t even have to go to the Stranglethorn Vale to profit from the pages. All you need to do is to look in the Auction House for The Green Hills of Stranglethorn pages. Buy the pages that are placed at 25silver or less. Same pages can be stacked. Try to make complete sets and sell them.

Your target market is not the low level player questing in STV but the level 80 ones who are trying to complete the Hemet Nessingwary: The Collected Quests achievement. More often than not, most level 80s have not completed this quest. At 25gold per set you’ll be getting a lot of gold in no time. But keep in mind that the more sets you’ll sell, the smaller your target market becomes.

Alliance Gold Making Tips (Levels 20-30)

This is the last for my series of Alliance gold making guides. By the time you reach 30, you’ll already have the gold needed to buy your mount. Again, I would be mentioning the items you might buy and sell in the Auction House for WoW gold. Keep in mind that the figures are based on my server alone and might not be the same in your server.

One such item is Recipe: Shadow Oil. For the Alliance, this recipe is available from Bliztik in Duskwood. He caters to both the Horde and Alliance. The recipe is priced at 15silver each. It is a limited stock item therefore only one will be available every hour. You can sell the Recipe: Shadow Oil in the Auction House for 3 to 4gold.

If you’re an alchemist, you can learn the recipe yourself and sell Shadow Oil. By itself, it can be applied to a melee weapon for a chance to inflict Shadow Bolt on your enemy. Then it could also be used for other crafted items, such as Greater Shadow Protection Potion, Wicked Moonstone Ring, Shadow Hood, Shadow Crescent Axe, and a lot more. Just like its recipe, the Shadow Oil could make you 3 to 4gold richer.

Another item worth considering would be the Schematic: Gnomish Cloaking Device. This schematic is dropped by Mekgineer Thermaplugg at Gnomeregan. If you’re like me that don’t enjoy grinding instance bosses, then you can go to the Alterac Mountains and look for Zan Shivsproket. He is a specialty engineer who sells the schematic among other things.

Not a lot of WoW players know where Zan Shivsproket is located. First you have to get to Ravenholdt Manor. Just go east of Tarren Mill until you find a narrow dirt path. Follow the path up the mountain and through a cave. Once you get through the cave you’ll find Ravenholdt Manor. Zan Shivsproket is a gnome found at the basement.

The Schematic: Gnomish Cloaking Device is sold at 24silver. I successfully sold it in the Auction House for 20gold at one time. But normally you can sell it for 10gold.

If you’ve practice the tips I gave for making gold, once you’ve reach level 30 you’ll already have enough gold to buy your mount and travel around the World of Warcraft much faster. Once you have the mount, making gold would be much easier than before. You can now go to your farming spots much quicker.

Alliance Gold Making Tips Part 2 (Levels 15 to 20)

This is the second part of my Alliance gold making guide. You might have made a lot of gold by using the first part of my guide. Now you have to sustain that momentum by building on what you’ve started. Again this guide will tell you which items to look for your buy and sell empire.

One vendor to visit would be Wenna Silkbeard in the Wetlands. She is a special goods dealer who sells 3 limited stock patterns, 2 for Leatherworking and 1 for Tailoring. These are Pattern: Azure Silk Gloves, Pattern: Green Leather Armor, and Pattern: Red Whelp Gloves.

The Pattern: Azure Silk Gloves can be bought from Wenna Silkbeard for 10silver. Its resell value is around 2gold. If you’re with the Horde, this pattern is sold by Kireena in Desolace as well.

Pattern: Green Leather Armor is sold by Wenna Silkbeard for 20silver. It is also sold by the Horde vendor George Candarte at the Hillsbrad Foothills. I see this pattern at the Auction House selling for 3gold.

Among the three, the Pattern: Red Whelp Gloves is the most attractive for the Horde like me. For one, it is only available from Wenna Silkbeard. Second, she is with the Alliance. Therefore an Alliance player can buy it from Wenna Silkbeard for 16silver. You can place it in a Neutral Auction House and sell it for at least 4 to 5gold.

While you’re in the Wetlands, you might want to visit Fradd Swiftgear, an engineering supplies vendor. He sells two limited stock engineering schematics that you can sell in the Auction House.

One of the schematics that Fradd Swiftgear sells is the Schematic: Lovingly Crafted Boomstick. This schematic can be bought for only 10silver. This schematic is also available for both the Alliance and the Horde from Jinky Twizzlefixxit in Thousand Needles. The usual buyout price for it in the Auction House is 2gold.

Fradd Swiftgear also sells the Schematic: Minor Recombobulator for 15silver. It is also available from Namdo Bizzfizzle at Gnomeregan. At first, only Alliance vendors sell this schematic making it a rare recipe for a Horde engineer thus it was sold at around 15 to 20gold in the Neutral Auction House. Things chance with Patch 2.4, when Blizzard made it available for the Horde side as well. These days the schematic can still fetch 10gold.

These are just some items that you can use for your buy and sell business. More items to come on the third part of this series.

Alliance Gold Making Tips Part 1 (Levels 1-15)

This is the first of a series of posts that would help those with the Alliance make WoW gold the easy and legal way. Why spend your hard earned money on gold right? Though my character is Horde, this guide is made through extensive research, mainly asking my friends and guild mates who rolled Alliance once in their WoW life.

So how can a player level 1 to 15 earn gold? It’s as simple as knowing what item to buy and sell in the Auction House. I’ve written before about this method of making WoW gold if you’re with the Horde. So what items should you buy if you’re on the Alliance side?

One is the Schematic: Blue Fireworks. You can get this engineering schematic either from Darian Singh at Stormwind City or Gearcutter Cogspinner at Ironforge. The schematic teaches an engineer how to make Blue Fireworks.

It is sold for 18silver by both vendors and you can sell it in the Auction House for as high as 2gold. The schematic is available only from Alliance vendors therefore it is especially popular with the Horde Engineers who would want to make Blue Fireworks. Red Firework schematics are available only from Horde vendors while the goblins sell the green fireworks schematics.

If you like a more profitable return of investment then you should choose to engage in the buy and sell of Recipe: Free Action Potion. It is available in limited stock from 2 Alliance vendors, Soolie Berryfizz at Ironforge and Ulthir at Darnassus. If you have a Horde toon then you can buy it from Kor’geld at Orgrimmar as well.

Just like the Schematic: Blue Fireworks, the Recipe: Free Action Potion is sold for 18silver each from the vendor. It is limited therefore there might be times that someone has bought it before you and it’s not available from the vendor. You can wait for it to respawn within the next hour.

Last time I’ve checked the Auction House, I found one selling for at least 5gold. I usually sell it for 4gold. It’s something wise not to be too greedy.

As you can see, making WoW gold is easy even if you’re Alliance and low level at that. The recipes mentioned above are limited stock therefore you might need to camp it with your character in order to buy one. A limited stock item usually restocks in an hour or so.
