Linen Farming in Westfall

Westfall was once the home of farmers and herders but these days it is populated by thieves. The Defias Brotherhood is notorious in this area. The Alliance town of Sentinel Hill is nearby but the Horde could get to it through Stranglethorn Vale. A Horde playing in a PvE server would not have a problem going to Westfall but if you’re playing in a PvP server then forget about it.

Westfall is great for Alliance toons leveled 10 to 20. It’s a play to quest and grind in because it is relatively small compared to Loch Modan or Darkshore. It is also home to the instance Deadmine, where toons can get their first blue items.

In the Northwestern side of Westfall, you’ll find an isolated windmill with a small hut at its base. Around it, you’ll find 6 to 7 members of the Defias Brotherhood, level 12 to13. Their respawn rate is great. Low level could farm here but as always, the higher your level, the more efficient your farming rate will be. The mobs are tightly grouped and would be great for area damagers.

Farming for linen is excellent at this spot. Linen cloths drop at around 35% most of the time. High levels could get around 100 linens in five minutes. Better empty your bags before you begin your farming session. They used to drop Large Rope Net but Blizzard removed it. Don’t forget the trash, green and blue items that would occasionally drop from these mobs. These can bring you gold as well.

Lower level farmers should be careful of the Defias Trapper though. Never turn your back on them or else they might stab you at the back. Those lower than level 24 might have hard time farming in this area.

While in the area, you could also check for the Defias Profiteer. This vendor is friendly to both Alliance and Horde. One item you should check out is the Recipe: Rage Potion. This low level alchemy recipe could be sold for 1 to 2 gold. You should know that the Defias Profiteer is not the only one who sells this recipe. Ranik of the Barrens, Hagrus of Orgrimmar and Xandar Goodbeard of Loch Modan also sell the recipe.

Another plus from the Defias Profiteer is his ability to repair therefore you don’t have to hearth back into a town to do your repairs. This is good news for Horde farmers in Westfall.

Westfall is said to be the number one farming spot for linen cloth. Judging with the experience I had here, I would definitely agree.

Who said that you need to have a high level to enjoy earning gold? I say you can start earning gold even at a very low level. One way to do is so is through old fashioned pattern selling. All you need is to know where to find those limited recipes that even a lot of old payers don’t know about. Some might think that the recipe is a rare dropped that they would be willing to buy it on the AH instead of asking where to buy it for a lot less.

One of the recipes I have in mind is Pattern: Herbalist’s Gloves. This is available through Harlown Darkweave, an alliance only vendor that could be found in Ashenvale (19.58). Aside from the said pattern, he also sells other common trade items such as Black Dye, Blue Dye, Coarse Thread, Fine Thread and a lot more.

The recipe, Pattern: Herbalist’s Gloves is only available for alliance characters for 18 silver. It is a limited item with a 30 minute timer. Therefore those on the horde side would pay a lot of gold for it. Once I saw it selling for 50 gold but that’s too much. Under normal circumstances, you could sell it at a neutral Auction House, such as the one in Booty Bay, for 10gold.

If you’re a Leatherworker as well then you can also make 5gold by selling the Herbalist Gloves. Just like the Pattern, these gloves are rare on the Horde side. Selling both the gloves and the pattern would bring in lots of WoW gold. But keep in mind that you must only place a pattern at a time in the AH to avoid over saturating your market and to keep the demand high.

If you’re an Herbalist as well that this Pattern will truly serve you in the long run. With these gloves, herbalists get +5 to their Herbalism skill. If you’re a Tauren Herbalist and you have the Herbalist Gloves enchanted with Advanced Herbalism then you’ll have a maximum Herbalism of 400.

Lower level herbalist can earn more gold than miners of the same level. You might be surprised by this but it’s true. Silverleaf fetches more than Copper does. A single Silverleaf can be sold on the AH for 4 silver while a Cooper Bar would only be priced at 10 silver.

As you can see, knowledge means gold in the World of Warcraft. Be sure to check this blog regularly for more tips on how to generate more gold. There might be stuff such as the Pattern: Herbalist’s Gloves that you might have missed out on and wished you could have known sooner.
