The Best Profession To Farm For Gold

Although I still think that Mining is the number one profession in WoW when in comes to making gold, Enchanting is a close second. Skinning and Herbalism do make a lot of gold as well but they don’t match the potential of Enchanting.

We all know that selling enchanting materials in the Auction House is free. Plus there is a never ending demand for enchanting materials. There are lots of ways to profit from Enchanting.

One way to profit from it is to buy cheap greens from the Auction House and Disenchant them. Then the mats you get from the Disenchantment could be sold in the Auction House.

Another way is to find someone that can make a Fel Iron Blood Ring or Golden Draenite Ring. These are the cheapest items to make but would be rewarding if disenchanted. According to my server’s economics, each ring would cost a maximum of 3 gold to make. When disenchanted, a ring can give you 2 arcane dusts or 2 lesser planar essence each. Plus there is a chance that you could get small prismatic shard from them.

Fishing for More than Food

World of Warcraft Fishing

World of Warcraft Fishing

If you’ve just started paying WoW, you’ll probably disregard fishing just as many players do. I did this with my first toon until I was almost 70, and realized the amazing foods I could be making and gold I could be bringing in if my fishing skills were maxed out.

At first, you may not think it is a big deal. But, you can make some extra money even early on in the game with fishing. One of the first places you’ll be able to fish (Horde wise) is off the coast of Ratchet. You’ll find there will be many times you are standing on that dock waiting for the boat to come in. Why not take advantage of that time by fishing? If you look up and down the coast here, you can find pools of Oily Blackmouth which is used in alchemy, and can sell pretty nice on the auction house.

Soon after that, you’ll be able to fish at the pools near and in Wailing Caverns in The Barrens. Here, you can find Deviate fish, which is used for creating Deviate Delight. Deviate Delight is used by low and high level characters for fun. It can turn you into a ninja, just something that players like to do for show (and to startle new players). In order to make Deviate Delight, you’ll have to combine your fishing with cooking, but the fish themselves sell well as it is.

When you reach 70, you’ll be able to fish in pure water pools, which will net you almost 10 motes of water in only minutes. That means you have a primal mana in minutes, instead of killing monsters for ½ an hour to get one (if you’re lucky). If you’re a caster, then you’ll want to fish your heart out in Nagrand for Bluefish. A cook can turn this into Poached Bluefish, which increases your spell damage. Very nice indeed!

As you see, cooking is always an great thing to go along with fishing. But, fishing alone can bring in a nice amount of gold throughout your WoW lifetime. It’s best to start fishing early though, because you don’t want to spend an entire day fishing playing catch up… trust me, I’ve been there and done that. Fish here and there on your downtime, and you’ll be able to steadily build your skill as you rise through the levels.

Skinning For Thick Clefthoof Leather In Nagrand

Skinning is one of the easiest ways to make money in WoW regardless of your character’s level. Once you reach the low to mid 60s there’s a great opportunity to get Thick Clefthoof Leather from all of the varieties of Clefthoofs in Nagrand.

On my server, Greymane, right now Thick Clefthoof Leather is going for between 150 – 200g a stack. Single pieces are around 6g (which is twice the buyout listed at Wowhead).

Of course the drop rate on these is pretty slim but on the bright side you will get a lot of Knothide Leather which is an easy Auction House sell.

Make More Money With Primal Life

WoW Guide Primal LifeThis is a WoW Guide on making more money than what you would normally make when farming for Primal Life. Before you attempt the guide, check the price of Primal Nether in your AH, the price varies greatly from server to server so this guide only works on some realms.

WoW Guide Primal NetherIn regards to my previous post on Primal Life Farming, instead of just selling the Primal Life in stacks at the AH, why not use the Primal Lives farmed to make a Golden Spellthread with the Tailoring profession? All you really have to do is buy a couple other mats such as Primal Nether.

So let’s do the maths…

Say 10 Primal Lives would normally sell for around for 20g on your server, that would mean if you sold it just as Primal Lives in the AH, you would make 200g.

WoW Guide Golden SpellthreadNow say you sell it off as A Golden Spellthread. This requires 10 Primal Lives, 1 Primal Nether (this price seems to vary between servers, 50g for mine) and 1 Runethread (50s). That would cost you 250.5g. Now sell off the Golden Spellthread for 395g and make 144.5g extra just a little extra work!
