Quite a lot of level 70 are always present at the Deadwind Pass. This is mainly because of Karazhan or during Pre-TBC days, it was known as Medivh’s Tower or the Ivory Tower. But what most don’t know about the area is that Deadwind Pass is a gold mine. It is one of the best gold farming spot in the World of Warcraft. If you’re saving up for your epic mount, you might want to try this region out. Before the Outlands, there was Deadwind Pass.
Before Burning Crusade, the Deadwind Mauler was the mob of choice of professional gold farmers. They would go down easily and you don’t need to have any strategies at all. Just target and down it quickly. You can still farm them these days for their runecloth and silver drops. They would also drop green and blue items as well. If you want to farm for runecloths then this is the mob to farm. Be careful though, these guys have Uppercut, an ability that can hit you even from out of their melee range.
Then there’s the Sky Shadows. Some say that these are the best trash mobs in the World of Warcraft and I have to agree with them. Although they don’t drop any money, they do drop Ironfeathers and Vibrant Plumes. These NPC trash can bring in lots of gold for you. A single Ironfeather will bring you 1silver, while a Vibrant Plume can bring around 8silver each. It also drops Feathery Wing that you can sell for 12silvereach. These trash items are stackable therefore they won’t occupy much space in your bags. Don’t forget about the greens and blues Sky Shadows occasionally drops. Add that to the trash items and you’ll be raking in a lot of gold.
For level 70s, the mob to farm would be the Unliving Residents in the area. They drop considerable silver each kill plus netherweave cloth. Not only that, these mobs are known to drop epic items such as the Helm of Narv, Jeweled Amulet of Cainwyn, and Myrmidon’s Signet.
As always, when venturing out for a farming expedition, be sure to be enough food or water to last for a long time to make your farming efficient. Also, be sure to have lots of space in your bags to avoid going to town to sell your gray items to make room for more. You don’t want to throw anything away. Remember that even gray items are gold makers.
