I found the Crystalvein Mine by mistake. It was a slow day so I thought of exploring Stranglethorn Vale. I was near the Gurubashi Arena when I came across an area with a bunch of basilisks. I made my way through the basilisk and found a cave called Crystalvein Mine. I fell in love with the place immediately.
Inside the cave, I found Ironjaw Basilisks, which are level 43 to 44. These Basilisks don’t reflect spell like other basilisks. These are basically melee creatures with a very slow attack. Though, as what their name pertains, the Ironjaw Basilisk’s bite can cause a lot of damage. They can also stun you but it will break once hit. They also have a good respawn that makes it a very good mob to farm.
I found that this is a good mob to farm for gold. After an hour or so, I filled my bags with loot. When sorting through all the items, I found some greens but majority of what I’ve looted are trash items such as Squishly Basilisk Eyes, Large Basilisk Tails, Basilisk Hearts and Prismatic Basilisk Scales.
You all know how much I love vendor trash. They don’t occupy much space because they’re stackable, plus they’re a good source of WoW gold. A stack of Squishly Basilisk Eyes sold for 60silver. A stack of Large Basilisk Tails sold for 35silver. A stack of Basilisk Heart sold for 50silver. Lastly, a stack of Prismatic Basilisk Scales sold for 60silver.
Skinners would also love grinding these mobs and would have stacks of Heavy Leather and Thick Leather from farming. These could fetch some gold for you. Heavy Leathers can be sold for 20silver each while the Thick Leather can be sold for 30silver each.
Miners can find some iron, mithril, silver and gold veins within the cave, although the respawn rate of these veins is a little slow. This is just an added attraction of farming at this spot.
To farm at the Crystalvein Mine, you need to be at least level 45 to be an efficient farmer. At this level you can easily handle two to three Ironjaw Basilisks at the same time. If you are a skinner, your skinning level should be able to skin creatures at level 40 to 44. If you’re a miner, you must be able to mine mithril veins. As always, empty your bags of unnecessary items before starting your farming session.
Your assessment is correct. Watch a movie or the Monday night game. Kill lots of crocs. Hearthstone, cash in. Do this during the week every night, and you can get through the boring 45-50 levels and still have XXX with your significant other! No great drops, just XP and CR*P to sell.
