Miner/Jewelcrafter in Sholazar Basin

If you are a miner and a jewelcrafter then this is the easiest and simplest way to earn WoW gold. I’ve already talked about how farmers love the Sholazar Basin but I’ve forgot to mention that miners and jewelcrafters can call it their home as well.

You’ll need an epic mount to fully maximize your faming potentials. This would make it easier for you to travel around the basin. With this farming method, you’ll be able to gather around 500 to 600gold per hour. That’s a lot more than any other method available in the World of Warcraft. But of course you need to have mining and jewelcrafting skills to be able to do this method of making WoW gold.

So how do you do it? Simply fly around the Sholazar Basin and get all the Saronite and Titanium ores you could gather. In about an hour, you’ll be able to get at least six stacks of Saronite ores. If you’re lucky you’ll also have some titanium ores as well.

The titanium ores can be turned in Titanium bars and sold in the auction house. It could be sold for at least 30gold each. Or you could make a Titansteel bar, which is sold at the AH for 200gold. That’s just the gold you can make from the titanium ores you gather.

Here’s where your Jewelcrafting will come into play. You should prospect your saronite ores. You’ll get at least one blue gem per stack. That would translate into six blue gems per hour. You cut these gems and place them in the auction house for at least 60 to 80gold each. You’ll get a minimum of 360gold per hour. Not bad for an hour’s worth of flying around the basin.

The extra Chalcedony, Shadow Crystal, and Dark Jade could be used to make Icy Prism. This has a twenty hour cool down but you’ll be lucky to get a Dragon’s Eye from it. Icy Prism can contain up to three rare gems. A single Icy Prism can bring you an additional 200gold.

If you add all the gold you can get from the Sholazar Basin, that’s at least 600gold per hour spent in the basin. Do this at least two to three hours a week and you’ll have enough gold for your WoW shopping sprees. If you have a toon that’s both a Miner and a Jewelcrafter then head to the Sholazar Basin and gather some ores.

Is Inscription Worth it?

Posted by Nance on 02 Mar 09 - 0 Comments - Archived in the category: Professions

The short answer to this question is NO. Much like any crafting profession, Inscription will be using resources that you could have sold in the Auction House for gold. I looked at the AH and saw that Glyphs have somewhat reached their saturation point. There are tons of Glyphs for sale with no takers. Maybe it would be different at your server but this is very much the case I most of the realms in the World of Warcraft.

I asked a guildmate about his Glyph business and he said that he has tons of unsold Glyphs in his mailbox. He misses the day when a Glyph could be sold for 50 gold. Right now Glyphs are in the range of 5 to 25gold each.

This is the current state of Inscription. When Wrath of the Lich King came out, people rushed to get Inscription as a profession. Thus there are a lot of Scribes in the World of Warcraft. That was the unwise choice. Instead of using the herbs, they could have sold it for a higher price than the glyphs.

The wiser choice was to take up Herbalism and profit on the demand of herbs. People might say that they farmed for their own herbs to use for their profession but what about the gold spent on parchments and recipes? And if they sold the herbs on the Auction House, they could have made a lot more gold during the Inscription rush. Glyphs might fetch a good amount of gold but then again it could be more.

But not everything about the Inscription profession is bad. What’s good about it is that it is useful for all classes. Therefore the target market for glyphs is huge, unlike other crafting professions that are limited to specific classes.

Maybe once you’ve maxed out your Inscription skills then you can balance and sell both herbs and glyphs in the Auction House. Just keep an ear out for what’s in demand in your server. Sometimes the Trade Channel is not just about senseless chatter.

If you’re thinking about switching to Inscription then I suggest that you don’t. But if you have an alt that doesn’t have a profession yet then you could try out the profession. But to maximize your gold making potential the best profession to take up would be the gathering ones such as mining, skinning and herbalism.

Rhino Meat Farming at the Borean Tundra

Rhino Meat is in demand these days because of the Daily Cooking Quest that requires you to make 4 Rhino Dogs. There are several zones where you can find Rhinos in the World of Warcraft but I found out that the Borean Tundra is the best source for Rhino meat.

Go around (43, 74) up to (48, 72) in the Borean Tundra to find herds of Rhinos just waiting for you to slaughter them. These Rhinos travel in groups of 5 and are not hostile, making it safe for farming. The mobs are Wooly Rhino Matriarchs and Wooly Rhino Calves. They only have melee attacks, which makes AoE farming suitable in this situation. But even melee farmers can make this a profitable endeavor because the Rhinos have low hit points, thus it’s easy to kill them especially at level 80. Just be aware of nearby Wooly Rhino Bulls. These are red mobs that are a little bit tougher but would not be a problem for a max level toon.

Another area would be just south of Amber Ledge (46, 41). There are a couple herds of Rhinos that spawn in the area.

Rhino Meat at my server sells for 1gold each. The drop rate is amazing that in just 30 minutes you can get at least 5 stacks of Rhino Meat. That’s 100g if you sold them all at the Auction House. If you’re a cook then you can use them in various recipes such as Hearty Rhino, Mighty Rhino Dogs, Rhino Dogs, Rhinolicious Wyrmsteak and Small Feast.

If you’re a Skinner as well then you can double that amount without easily. The Rhinos are skinnable and you could amass lots of Borean Leathers and the occasional Artic Fur in the process. Borean Leathers go for at least 20gold per stack of 20. Arctic Leathers are more expensive and go for 50gold each. Although the drop rate for Arctic Fur is at 1%, you would probably get one an hour. That makes grinding Rhinos for their meat and leather a feasible way of getting World of Warcraft gold.

The art of farming has been more lucrative with the arrival of Wrath of the Lich King. There are more mobs to grind and more zones to discover. Be sure to check this site again for more hints and tips on how to make more WoW gold.

Elemental Farming in Wintergrasp

Posted by Nance on 22 Feb 09 - 1 Comment - Archived in the category: Grinding Spots

When your side has control of Wintergrasp, you’ll be able to Elemental Revenants, which are greater elemental spirits that have a 100% chance of dropping 1 to 3 Crystallized Elements. This is by far the best zone to farm for Eternals for WoW gold. Wintergrasp is open for level 77 players with flyers.
Each Elemental has their own zone where they would respawn. If you’re looking for Crystallized Shadows then go west towards the Forest of Shadows (21, 53). There you can find Shadow Revenants and Wandering Shadows. Crystallized Shadow sells for at least 1gold each. When converted into Eternal Shadow, it will go for 10gold a piece.

Steppe of Life (10, 62) found in the Southwestern part of Wintergrasp is the place to farm for Crystallized Life. There you will find Living Lashers. There’s no Revenant version for them so don’t bother looking for one. The drop rate is still good but their respawn rate is awful. They would drop greens as well that you can sell for your repairs. Herbalists can skin them for herbs as well. Each Crystallized Life sells for 5gold each. When converted into Eternal Life then you can sell it for 50gold each.

To the Southeast you’ll find the Cauldron of Fire (86, 68). This might be the most camped area of Wintergrasp because this is where Raging Flames and Flame Revenants spawn. A single Crystallized Fire can fetch up to 10gold in my server. Eternal Fire can be sold for around 70gold. I recommend that you sell Crystallized Fire instead of converting them into Eternal Fire.

Head south of Wintergrasp and there you’ll lots of Tempest Revenants and Whispering Winds. There’s an issue regarding the spawn of Tempest Revenants. You’ll see them only in Wintergrasp while they’re located in what is considered Dragonblight already. So when you engage them, they’ll disappear. Hopefully the coming patch fixes this bug. Crystallized Air sells for 5gold each. Eternal Air sells for 50gold each.
Lastly if you’re looking for Water and Earth elementals, you don’t need to look hard for them. Glacial Sprits, Water Revenants, Earthbound Revenants, and Chilled Earth Elementals are found all throughout Wintergrasp. Anyway Crystallized Earth and Crystallized Water are the cheapest at 1gold each.

As you can see, the control of Wintergrasp can be profitable for you. So be sure to help out in controlling the zone for your faction to enjoy farming for crystallized elementals in it.
