Why Hunters are Good WoW Gold Farmers

Posted by Nance on 18 Feb 09 - 0 Comments - Archived in the category: Tips

The Hunter class is made for hunting. That’s why they’re probably the best farmers in the World of Warcraft. Even in greens, their DPS is probably higher than any other class in the game. Hunters can give you a lot more gold per minute than any other class in game. Here are the top four reasons why I think hunters have the advantage farming for gold.

Hunters have pets.
Not a lot of classes in the World of Warcraft have pets. Hunters can have combatant companions to help in their farming. The Hunter can sit back while he sends his pet in towards the mobs. The pet can tank the mobs while the Hunter can attack at a safe distance. You’ll experience less time dying. Plus pets can be healed at a safe distance as well. If a Hunter knows what his doing, his pet would not die at all. Not only will this save you lots of downtime but you’ll save gold from repair bills as well.

Be a Skinner.
Hunters naturally hunt beasts. Be sure to hunt down the skinnable ones. In Wrath of the Lich King, Chilled Meat, Rhino Meat, and Worm Meat can bring in lots of WoW gold. And the mobs where they come from are skinnable as well. That’s maximizing your farming time. With lots of Leatherworkers leveling up their profession, leathers would be in demand. Also be sure to pick up another gathering skill such as herbalism or mining. That way you can track down nearby nodes in your minimap and maximizing your time out on the field by picking up other resources as well.

Beast Mastery is a Must.
Hunters who would want to spend their time farming with less downtime should put most of their Talent Points into Beast Mastery. When done right, the pet could handle most of the mobs that he would be aggroing.

Have Full Ammo When Going Out.
This should be remembered all the time. Make sure that your ammo bag is full before going out on your farming. That way you don’t need to go back just to buy some bullets or quivers. It’s a common mistake for hunters not to check their ammo before leaving their camp.

These are just some ways in which the Hunter has the advantage over other classes. These are the reasons why you’ll see a lot of Hunters riding on their epic Mammoth mounts.

Cradle of Crystallized Life

I love the new worth. With the Wrath of the Lich King come a lot of potential gold makers. I checked the Auction House for overpriced items and one stood out among the rest. Crystallized Life sells for 60gold each in my server. Tailors and Alchemists need this to craft several items, such as Shining Spellthread and Mighty Shadow Protection Potion. This is the WoTLK version of Mote of Life while the Eternal Life is the Primal Life. So begins my quest for WoTLK’s Bog Lord.

I’m not a Herbalist therefore I need to find monsters that would have a decent drop rate for Crystallized Life and during my search I’ve found several mobs that I found that do drop the coveted item.

First on my list is the Level 69 to 71 Thornvine Creeper found at Northern part of Howling Fjord (53, 16). I observed that they have a pretty low drop rate for Crystallized Life but they do have decent vendor trash and I looted a green item but if you’re farming for Crystallized Life, this mob is not recommended.

Then while doing the quest Strengthen the Ancients in Dragonblight, I found out that the Woodland Walkers that drop the Bark of Walkers needed for the quest also drop Crystallized Life. I needed 3 Bark of Walkers for my quest and on my last kill I also looted a Crystallized Life. That’s 1 in 5 kills. I thought the drop rate is pretty decent so I went on and farmed them for Crystallized Life. Turns out, the drop rate is pretty much the same as with the Thornvine Creepers.

Last but definitely not the last on my list are the Mossy Rampager found in Zul’Drak. This level 75 to 76 monster is what I consider the Bog Lord of the WoTLK. They have a pretty decent drop rate for the Crystallized Life. The downside for this is that you have to be at least level 78 to maximize your farming potential.

I’m sure the price for Crystallized Life will be lower after a couple of weeks into the Wrath of the Lich King. The respawn rate is fast, much like every mob in WoTLK these days. I’m sure it would normalize after a month or so. Therefore if you have a level 78 toon then I suggest farming for Crystallized Life today. That way you can afford getting a Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth of your own.

How to Earn Gold in WoTLK

A few days after the release of Wrath of the Lich King, a lot of things have changed in the World of Warcraft, including the way we farm for gold. Daily quests in the isle can still be your source for quick WoW gold. You’ll find the isle deserted because most of the players are in the Northend.

You could also make gold just by leveling. You can do the quests and sell the unwanted items. Items that are BOE could be sold in the Auction House or disenchanted. With lots of Death Knights at level 58-70, items looted in the new realm would fetch a good price in the AH.

Now let’s talk about the professions. Gathering professions would still profitable. Skinners will find a lot of new monsters to skin. Look for an area where people are just grinding for XP and skin the corpses they leave behind.

Miners would discover Cobalt and Titanium veins in the Northend. These ores would be in demand because Jewel crafters, Blacksmiths and Engineers would want to level their skills. At the moment, Cobalt is selling like 10gold for a single piece in my server. Be sure to check the Auction House for a more accurate rate.

New instances to raid would mean that Alchemists would be making a lot of potions. That means that herbs would still be priced high because of the demand. Not only that, Inscriptionists would still be a popular profession, therefore Herbalists would have to work double time. Herbs from the Northend are selling as high as 100gold per stack. Herbs from the Outlands are cheaper but supply of it would dwindle down because people would be spending more time in the Northend.

New places mean new fishes to catch and new recipes to cook. Food buffs would still be in demand and therefore fishing and cooking could be a potential gold mine. Be your realm’s food provider and you’ll see the gold flowing in.

As you can see, making gold in WoTLK would be easy. But you must know that you need a lot of it with the expansion. New mounts would be expensive. There’s the caravan mount, Dalaran Bear, and the engineer crafted motorcycle. These would cost a lot of gold.

You might be making a lot of WoW gold but you’ll still be spending a lot more than before. One word of advice is that you must not spend on things you don’t need yet. Spend it on something worthwhile.

Grinding for Timbermaw Rep

Timbermaw Hold might be a Classic WoW faction but it would be rewarding for an individual to build up one’s reputation with them. It has rewards for Blacksmiths, Alchemists, Leatherworkers, Tailors and Enchanters. Be ready for the long grind to up your rep with the faction. There are two zones in which you can grind for this faction’s rep with two to three areas to visit in each zone.

One of the zones to grind for Timbermaw Rep would be Felwood. Here you can find Deadwood Avengers, Gardeners, Den Watchers, Pathfinders, Shamans, and Warriors. With each kill you’ll get 4 rep points. You could also do quests to level your rep. One of which is Deadwood of the North. This is a grinding quest wherein you must kill a number of Deadwood mobs. Once you’ve completed this quest, you’ll unlock a repeatable quest where you’ll be required to turn in five Deadwood Headdress Feathers. Each turn in is equivalent to 300 Timbermaw Hold Rep. The mobs would also drop Deadwood Ritual Totem that starts a quest. Turn the quest in to Kernda for 1,400 rep with the Timbermaw Hold.

You could also try going to Winterspring for your Timbermaw Hold rep grind. What you need to grind for rep would be the Winterspring Pathfinders, Totemics, Shaman, Den Watchers, Runners, Ursas, and the High Chief Winterfall. When you don’t get any XP from the kill, High Chief Winterfall is worth 8 rep. You could also do the Winterspring Activity quest to unlock the repeatable quest where you are required to turn in Winterspring Spirit Beads. 5 pieces of Winterspring Spirit Beads is equal to 300 Timbermaw Hold rep. There’s also the unrepeatable quest drop called Winterspring Ritual Totem that rewards 1,400 rep.

These are some ways in which you can grind for Timbermaw Hold rep. Once you’re exalted with the faction, Gorn One Eye would offer you a quest called Root of All Evil. Do this quest and you will receive a trinket called Defender of the Timbermaw. When used, it summons a Shaman that can cast lightning bolt and healing wave. You’ll have an extra DPS and healer in one.

Building up your reputation with a classic faction such as Timbermaw Hold is always fun. Not only that you’ll can purchase certain recipes for your crafting profession. While everyone is busy at the Northend, you can easily wonder around Winterspring and Felwood for your Timbermaw Hold grind.
