Ahoy Pirates

At the time I’m writing his, it was Pirate’s Day at the World of Warcraft. Captain DeMeza and her crew have arrived at Booty Bay. What better way to commemorate this event than to kill pirates and loot their treasures. While other pirates are celebrating, I wore my pirate costume courtesy of Captain DeMeza, of course, and went to Tanaris. There you can find lots of pirates but my favorite ones are located at the Lost Rigger Cove (72,44). This cove can only be reached through a tunnel at Eastern Tanaris.

The Southsea Pirates found at the Lost Rigger Cove are level 44 to 45. You can easily grind these mobs. The pirates drop an average of 2silver, plus their drop rate for Mageweave is great. You can easily fill your bags with Mageweave. That’s not all. There’s a small chance that they’ll drop silk as well. Better be prepared and empty your bags before going here because Gadgetzan is far from his area.

They also drop a considerable amount of green items and the occasional blue ones. They also drop Pirate’s Footlocker that contains Piratey items, mostly junk, but you might be lucky to loot Wirt’s Third Leg. This could be sold in the Auction House for a considerable amount of gold.

They also drop Volatile Rum. This rum will not only make you tipsy but can also make you rich as well. What more can you ask for? The Volatile Rum is used by Alchemists to manufacture Goblin Rocket Fuel, which is a requirement for a few engineering items. At any given time, you can sell the Volatile Rum for 15silver a piece at the Auction House.

The Southsea Pirates use Strike, which does an additional weapon damage of 69 to 70. Despite that, they do fall down easily making them great grinding mobs. You can bring your lower level toon to level up or use your high level to farm for gold. In just a few hours of grinding, you will be justly rewarded for your effort.

If you’re still too low for the Outlands or a level 70 with too much time in his hands, then I suggest grinding the Southsea Pirates of Lost Rigger Cove. They give quality gold per hour. There are plenty of pirates in the area that you’ll be experiencing little downtime. An added bonus to this spot is the rare pirate spawn, Kregg Keelhaul. His drop is a guarantee green item.
