This post is mainly for newer players who have not played World of Warcraft much before and are trying to get their first character going. For you more experienced players we have plenty more tips coming soon.
Most people think of high level characters, bringing in hundreds or thousands of gold per day, when they hear the phrase “gold farming”. However, new people are joining the World of Warcraft community every single day, so what about making some gold in the lower levels? The first step to being able to afford your repairs, food, weapons, or whatever you need to buy is picking a profitable profession. Sticking with gathering professions is the general rule of thumb i.e. skinning, herbalism, or mining. Skinning is by far the easiest, because you will be killing plenty of animal mobs that you skin as you go along through your quests. Another upside of skinning? One of the first types of skin you will be receiving is “light leather”… and yep, light leather is used by several crafting professions (leatherworking and tailoring use a lot of it).
Therefore you can expect to sell plenty stacks of light leather on the auction house. The downside to skinning, if you want to call it that, is you will need lots of bag or bank space! Collecting all that leather can take a hefty toll on your available bag slots, so upgrade your bags as soon as you can. If you have a guild, see if anyone is a tailor. They may need to make bags to up their tailoring level, so you may be able to get some bigger bags cheap or even free. If you don’t have a guild, check bag vendors before wandering into the auction house to buy over-priced bags.
