The Outlands might be the best place to farm for runecloth but what if you don’t have the Burning Crusade expansion yet. No worries because there are several areas in Azeroth that are good runecloth farming spots. Who said that TBC’ers are the only ones having a good time in the World of Warcraft.
Eastern Plaguelands is such region that runecloth farmers should go to, whether they need it for rep or to sell them for gold. The spots to go to are Brownman Mill (77,53), Tyr’s Hand (77,81) and Zul Mashar (68,20). These are just a stone’s throw away from the Lights Hope Chapel.
Of the three spots, Brownman Mill holds the least number of mobs but has the fastest respawn rate. Most mobs have as little as 3,000 HP therefore they could be killed easily. That gives you the chance to kill as many mobs as possible in a given time. Zul’Mashar has the most mobs available to be farmed. When you get to the middle of it, you’ll find zombies that have little health. As for Tyr’s Hand, I find this place to frequently drop blue items, which is a bonus when out farming for runecloth. Look out for the rare high General that spawns inside one of the building in the area.
You might also want to try going to the Noxious Glade, which is just north of the Lights Hope chapel. There you can find undead mobs that drop 1 to 4 runecloths at a time. Though the respawn rate might be a little slower than the first three spots mentioned, you should still check this spot out.
In an hour you might be able to get around 200 runecloths, not to mention the greens and vendor trash that you’ll pick p along the way. The gold you’ll get here might not be as high compared to grinding in the Outlands but it is a good alternative for those who can’t go in the portal yet.
If you’re grinding runecloths for major city reps, keep in mind that you need at least 520 stacks of runecloths to go from Friendly to Exalted. It would be costly to buy that many runecloths in the Auction House. Plus if you’re targeting the Diplomat achievement, you need to multiply that amount to 5. So it is best to farm for the runecloths yourself. You can keep the runecloths for yourself and sell the other loots in the AH.
