The demand for Mote of Air will never be low. It is an essential mat that is used in Trade skills. That’s why a single Mote of Air has a buyout value of 3gold in my realm.
Just like any other elemental mote, Mote of Air could be farm in the Elemental Plateau. But we all know that this area is pretty much over-farmed these days. It would not be time efficient to grind in this area. You’ll be lucky if you can solo the area for an hour because the drop rate here is the best.
So aside from the Elemental Plateau, you might be asking where else you can farm for Mote of Air. There are other areas in Nagrand where Air Elementals roam but they are not concentrated enough in a single area.
Next to the Elemental Plateau, Shadowmoon Valley is where you must go. Head north of the Altar of Sha’tar and you’ll find a great number of Enraged Air Spirits there. You won’t be meeting any farmers around these parts. Plus the Enraged Air Spirits have far less HP than Storming Wind Rippers of the Elemental Plateau. I can assure you that you have them all by your lonesome. Though there might be someone else from your realm reading this and might be going there as well.
You could also try going south of the Shadowmoon Valley around (58,70). Enraged Air Spirits also roam there and no other farmers would be going there. You need to have flying mount to farm faster in the area.
If you’re an Engineer and already have the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor then you can go around Nagrand and look for white clouds moving around. These clouds hover on the ground and are constantly moving around very slowly. Once you’ve spotted one, use your Zapthrottle Mote Extractor to get the motes out of the clouds. You can get around 2 to 3 Motes of Air from a single cloud.
The schematic for the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor is a reward from the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor quest. It could be accepted when you have 305 Engineering skill points. This is a useful device because not only can you farm Mote of Air using it but any other elemental motes as well. For Mote of Shadow, clouds can be found in Shadowmoon Valley. Netherstorm is where you can find Mote of Mana clouds. And for Mote of Water clouds, these are found in Zangarmarsh.
