A few days after the release of Wrath of the Lich King, a lot of things have changed in the World of Warcraft, including the way we farm for gold. Daily quests in the isle can still be your source for quick WoW gold. You’ll find the isle deserted because most of the players are in the Northend.
You could also make gold just by leveling. You can do the quests and sell the unwanted items. Items that are BOE could be sold in the Auction House or disenchanted. With lots of Death Knights at level 58-70, items looted in the new realm would fetch a good price in the AH.
Now let’s talk about the professions. Gathering professions would still profitable. Skinners will find a lot of new monsters to skin. Look for an area where people are just grinding for XP and skin the corpses they leave behind.
Miners would discover Cobalt and Titanium veins in the Northend. These ores would be in demand because Jewel crafters, Blacksmiths and Engineers would want to level their skills. At the moment, Cobalt is selling like 10gold for a single piece in my server. Be sure to check the Auction House for a more accurate rate.
New instances to raid would mean that Alchemists would be making a lot of potions. That means that herbs would still be priced high because of the demand. Not only that, Inscriptionists would still be a popular profession, therefore Herbalists would have to work double time. Herbs from the Northend are selling as high as 100gold per stack. Herbs from the Outlands are cheaper but supply of it would dwindle down because people would be spending more time in the Northend.
New places mean new fishes to catch and new recipes to cook. Food buffs would still be in demand and therefore fishing and cooking could be a potential gold mine. Be your realm’s food provider and you’ll see the gold flowing in.
As you can see, making gold in WoTLK would be easy. But you must know that you need a lot of it with the expansion. New mounts would be expensive. There’s the caravan mount, Dalaran Bear, and the engineer crafted motorcycle. These would cost a lot of gold.
You might be making a lot of WoW gold but you’ll still be spending a lot more than before. One word of advice is that you must not spend on things you don’t need yet. Spend it on something worthwhile.
