Winterspring is probably one of my favorite places in the World of Warcraft. It’s my personal winter wonderland. I prefer grinding here up to level 60 instead of going to the Plaguelands. Farmers used to frequent this place but have since gone to the Outlands for their farming.
For starters you can grind on the numerous Winterspring Owls scattered around the place. They drop Irnfeather, which is a nice vendor trash item. They also have a decent drop rate for green items. Not only that, you could hit up on the various Thorium veins that spawn near the owls.
If you get bored with the owls, you can move towards Lake Kel’Theril, which is a frozen lake in the middle of Winterspring. This lake is home to level 54 and 55 ghosts that drop an average of 8silver and a fair share of greens. You should keep an eye on Princess Tempestria, a rare elite spawn that usually drop blue items. She could be soloed by a level 70.
If you’re at level 70, you could also go south east of the lake to find the Elite dragonkins. These mobs have a slim chance to drop Mature Blue Dragon Sinew. This epic item can fetch up to 200gold. You can also skin the dragonkins for Blue Dragonscales.
Speaking of skinning, Skinners would want to farm the Frostsabers for Frostsaber Leathers. This item is worth at least 45silver on the Auction House. Leatherworkers want this leather to level their skill from 280 to 300. If you’re at level 52 and above, better grind on these mobs because they do give out decent experience.
Herbalists go to Winterspring for Icecaps. This herb can only be found in this region and is one of the mats to make Major Mana Potion. Icecap is also used for making Icy chill Enchants. I found Icecaps selling in the Auction House in the range of 70 to 90silver each.
Another herb that you can gather in Winterspring is the Black Lotus. It has a spawn time of 45 minutes up to 1 hour and 15 minutes. If you happen to get one, than you’re in luck. A single Black Lotus is worth 20gold.
Miners can get a lot from Winterspring as well. Go down south and you’ll find Darkwhisper Gorge. Here you can consistently find Rich Thorium veins. Grind on the mobs at that area in between the vein spawns. You might be lucky and loot the epic The Eye of Shadow.
